      The exhibit will showcase historic and cultural touchstones of American history through more than 100 objects from the museum's vast holdings including Dorothy's Ruby Slippers, the rarely displayed walking stick used by Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln's gold pocket watch, Muhammad Ali's boxing gloves and a fragment of Plymouth Rock. 14th St. and Constitution Ave. NW Washington, DC (April 12, 2012 - TBA)

      May 26-27 - UMD Housing Mazza GrandMarc suggests: Delaplane Strawberry Festival

      The Delaplane Strawberry Festival offers two full days of family-oriented fun in Northern Virginia each year over the Memorial Day weekend. Activities include live entertainment, children's games, pony rides and hayrides, a petting zoo, a 5K fun run, a raptor exhibit, antique cars and lots of food and crafts. Fresh restaurant-grade flats and pints of strawberries are for sale to enjoy on-site or take home. The Delaplane Strawberry Festival is held at Sky Meadows State Park, a beautiful and historic site which is right on the Appalachian Trail, so hiking enthusiasts can enjoy some music, hayrides, and funnel cake with strawberries before they jump onto the trail for an afternoon hike.

      Mount Vernon’s Spring Wine Festival & Sunset Tour celebrates the history of wine in Virginia with candlelit tours of the Mansion, including the rarely-open basement where Washington stored his wine, and live jazz on the east lawn overlooking the scenic Potomac River.  Guests sample wines from 16 Virginia wineries, learn about the successes and failures of our Founding Father’s wine endeavors, and meet “George and Martha Washington” on the Mansion's piazza.
